When considering turbo kit possibilities for the 2JZ, the possible variations are vast. It is virtually assured that no two turbo kits would nor should be the same. Each build has it's individual goals on how the turbo kit should perform. And therefore all of the components in the turbo kit change from vehicle to vehicle in order for each build to achieve those performance goals. It is simply not possible to create a one size fit's all turbo kit.
PHR has created a tool for you to build your perfect turbo kit: The PHR Turbo Kit Builder. It is fully customizable to fit your individual needs. Simply use the options above to select your manifold, turbo and other options to build your one-of-a-kind turbo kit.
Below you will find a breakdown and more details about each selection to help you in the building of your kit.
This Turbo Kit Builder has been tailored around the PHR S23 and S45 Turbo Manifold for the 2JZ-GE and GTE.
By doing this we've simplified the builder a little bit to only include the turbo's compatible with these manifolds.
We offer a number of other Turbo Kit Builders for our other styles manifolds. To see those click the button below.
A couple of notes:
The S23 and S45 Manifolds fit the following vehicles:
This Turbo Kit Builder is designed to work with those specific vehicles. While they have been fit in a lot of other 2JZ swapped vehicles, some of the components of this turbo kit builder would not fit. If using this builder to make a kit for another vehicle, it would likely be best to exclude the downpipe, midpipe, dumptubes and intercooler pipes unless otherwise known to fit.
We need to know if your car is right hand drive or left hand drive. This is important for us to know so we can build the dumptube(s) to clear the steering shaft and steering rack.
We build these manifolds for both twin turbo and not turbo cylinder heads. With all of the engine swaps and cylinder head interchangeability, need to know what head you are using.
The S23 and S45 Manifolds are signature manifolds from PHR. They are a true equal length manifold. They also feature a single piece stainless steel billet collector, are hand built entirely of stainless steel, including the header flange. The header flange features directional ports to aid in flow out of the cylinder head. Every manifold is hand crafted in house by one of our skilled fabricators. While we have a location fixture for turbo placement, these things do move slightly making every manifold unique like a finger print.
The difference between the manifolds is the S23 features 1.25" schedule 10 (1.44 in ID) runners, while the S45 features 1.5" schedule 10 (1.68" ID) runners.
Twin-scroll housings paired with the twin scroll manifold improve engine performance by dividing exhaust gases into two paths, reducing interference and enhancing turbocharger efficiency. This design results in quicker spool times, better low-end torque, and reduced turbo lag, making it ideal for performance vehicles needing rapid acceleration and responsiveness.
Single-scroll housings paired with the single scroll manifold are simpler and a little less expensive. The turbine housings are slightly less expensive. While they may lead to slighlty slower spool times and a touch more turbo lag compared to twin-scroll designs, their cost-effectiveness and simplicity make them a practical choice for everyday driving needs.
We build these manifolds to use either one or two wastegates.
A setup with only one wastegate offers several benefits, including simplicity and cost-effectiveness. A single wastegate is easier to install and requires less maintenance due to having fewer components, which can result in improved reliability. This setup can be particularly advantageous for budget-conscious enthusiasts or those who prefer a straightforward approach to turbocharging. Moreover, a single wastegate can adequately control boost pressure in most applications. This simplicity translates to fewer potential points of failure and easier troubleshooting if issues arise.
However, there are also detriments to using only one wastegate in a single turbo setup, particularly in high-performance or more complex applications. A single wastegate may struggle to manage the exhaust flow effectively, leading to boost creep or uneven boost control, especially in engines with high exhaust gas volumes. In contrast, a dual wastegate setup can provide more precise control over exhaust gases, reducing the likelihood of boost creep and improving overall performance and efficiency. While more complex and expensive, dual wastegates can enhance the responsiveness and power delivery of the turbo system, making them a better choice for high-performance or heavily modified engines where optimal boost control is critical.
This is where you choose how hard you want to party. We keep a variety of Precision Turbo sizes in stock. You can build these S23 or S45 turbo kits that will make 300 wheel all the way to 1800!

Turbine Housing size is very important to your turbo choice. Your Turbine housing will dictate how much backpressure your engine will see. Ideally we don't recommend a turbine housing smaller than .81 A/R for an open scroll or .84 A/R for a twin scroll. A smaller sized turbine housing will reduce turbo lag, but also will increase backpressure, which will limit the amount of peak power your turbo is capable of making.
We carry a wide variety of turbine housings for your turbo choice, if you are looking for a different size turbine housing not listed contact us and we can get it added to your order.
If you are looking to customize the look of your turbo we offer different finish options. We can have your compressor polished or powder coated. We offer powder color options of Gloss Black, Matte Black, or Wrinkle Black.
We offer a 2000 degree black ceramic coating option for the following components:
We offer wastegates from TiAL, Precision, and Turbosmart in various colors.
If using twin gates, the manifolds are set up to use Turbosmart 45mm, Precision 46mm or TiAL 44mm wastegates. These all share the same style of flanges, as well as dimensions from the inlet to the outlet, making them essentially interchangeable.
For single gate manifolds, you can select from Turbosmart 60mm, Tial 60mm or Precision 56mm. These flanges are not interchangeable like the twin gate setups are.
Dumptubes are built to order and paired with your manifold. We are able to build these dumped to atmosphere or recirculated into the downpipe.
Our downpipes are built to order and paired with your manifold. We offer them in offered in 3" or 4" diameter tube.
We are now offering them in stainless steel as well as titanium. Titanium is available with mandrel bent tubing or pie cut pieces. The look you want is really up to you.
The midpipe is available in 3" or 4" diameter tube. We are also now offering them in stainless steel as well as titanium. Titanium is available with mandrel bent tubing or pie cut pieces. The look you want is really up to you.
Our intake consist of an Aluminum tube with filter and clamps to attach to the front of your turbo. Our intake kits come in the standard finishes. Polished, Gloss Black Powder, Matte Black powder, or Wrinkle Black Powder.
We offer various turbo oil feed options for your turbo, this choice is dependent on the block you are running as the NA and GTE block use a different oil feed location. The GTE will feed from the front oil feed on the GTE block. Our GE oil feed line can be run from 3 different locations, the oil pressure sensor off the block, the union bolt hole (1/8npt),the PHR Oil Filter Relocation Kit, or just using our Adapter for Oil Filter Relocation.
Proper oil drainage is important to the life of your turbo, with multiple options available we can supply you with the best option for your turbo kit. Our Oil drain kits utilize a billet fitting to the turbo and to the oil pan, and connected via -10 AN lines.
When converting to single turbo, you'll need to address the Idle Air Control Valve. Normally the IACV gets it's air supply from the a connecting pipe to the stock twin turbo inlet piping. Because all of this is eliminated, essentially the filtering on that air is also eliminated. We offer a small filter that installs directly to the IACV to make sure the incoming air remains filtered.
We have 3 different options for hotside intercooler piping to pair with your turbo. For those of you running a Greddy 3 row on your supra, we also offer 2.5" hot and cold side piping.
• 2.5" will pair with the S or SCP cover turbos
• 3" will pair with you H Cover turbos
• 3" Sportsman will pair with your Sportsman compressor covers (GT42)
We have 5 options for the finish of your intercooler piping, you can keep it raw, have them polished, our powder coated gloss black, matte black , or wrinkle black.
We keep the best Blow Off Valves in stock in a variety of colors from Turbosmart, and TiAL Sport.
If you already have a blow off valve and just need a flange welded to the intercooler pipe, we can do that too. Note that if you prefer to have the blow off valve on the cold-side intercooler pipe, you should look into our cold-side intercooler pipes kits where we offer the welding service on those specific products as well.
