What MVP says about OEM coil packs:
A lot of people ask us if they need to "upgrade" to IGN1A or R35 coils.  Generally speaking, the answer is no.  The reason your 2JZ-GTE's ignition is breaking up when you're making 800, 1,000, or even 1,200rwhp+ is because you're probably running on 30 year old coil packs and 30 year old coil pack wiring and connectors.  What do you reasonably expect here?  The MVP Supra makes over 1,250 at the wheels running new OEM coil packs, wires, and connectors.  If you just like the look of an aftermarket solution, then great, go for it.  But if you're being told you are required to change out your coil packs to make decent power, you're being told wrong - probably by someone who has a financial interest in you purchasing said aftermarket solution.  We do offer aftermarket options here as well and are happy to provide one of them if that's the way you want to go.  Just don't do it because someone else has told you that you have to.
